About

I’m a photo historian, I like photography, and I’m using this site to keep track of some of the things I come across, want to remember, and maybe have a word or two to say about. I write longer things and speak at greater length elsewhere.

I don’t write haiku very often, but I like it, too, and I like its brevity.

Readers of haikuforphotography are invited to write and send in haikus on photography to share (related subjects are okay, too). Some basic guidelines: haikus generally follow a 5-7-5 pattern with syllables, though I learned recently that it’s actually a lot more complicated than that. oh well, 5-7-5 seems like a fun way to start — and none of us are experts, right?

This is my first effort:

Haiku for Frank Gohlke
Grain elevators
You haven’t done those in years
But I like the lines

You can submit your haiku in the comment box below.
